Canceling or Voiding Test Scores
Score Invalidations Due to Violation of the 31-Day Rule
You must wait 31 calendar days before retaking a test or subtest; otherwise, the score for the retake will be invalidated and no score report will be issued.
After a score verification session, you must wait 31 calendar days before retaking the same examination or a subtest of an examination that you have verified; otherwise, the score for the retake will be invalidated and no score report will be issued.
Score Invalidations Due to Cheating
If an examinee is found to be engaged in cheating behavior, scores will be invalidated. For tests with essays, cheating behavior includes writing a pre-prepared, memorized essay. The essay must be a completely original essay composed during the test and it must respond directly and completely to the topic selected. Please review the information that comes with your admission ticket (and is also displayed during the registration process) for important details on cheating, prohibited aids, and calculators.
If an examinee is found possessing a cell phone or an electronic prohibited aid, the examinee will not be allowed to continue testing, the test site will report this information to the Department, and this act of possession of an electronic prohibited aid will result in an automatic score invalidation. See "Compliance with Testing Rules" for more information about materials that are prohibited in the testing room.
Note that if your scores are invalidated by the Department, you may not register for or attend a score verification session for the test for which scores have been invalidated.
Canceling Your Test Scores
If after taking the FTCE or FELE you do not want your test scores reported, you may cancel your scores by filling out a Score Cancelation Form. This form must be completed and submitted before you leave the test site.
If you request that your scores be canceled, your test performance will not be reported to you, to the DOE, or to any institution. Your scores will not be entered into any FTCE/FELE records; therefore, after the cancelation of your scores, you will not be able to have your scores reported for any purpose.
