Flu/Pandemic Policy
I am registered to test and think I might have the flu. What should I do?
For the health and safety of other examinees and FTCE/FELE staff, examinees are urged to comply with the advice of their health-care professional and remain in home quarantine until cleared by a medical professional to return to work, school, or other normal activities.
Examinees experiencing fever and flu-like symptoms should NOT report for testing appointments.
Every effort will be made to reschedule examinees canceling testing appointments in advance due to suspected or confirmed illness without additional fees or penalties.
For examinees with future computer-based testing registrations:
Computer-based testing registrations can be canceled online by the examinee for any reason up until the day before the test date with no additional fees or penalties. Instructions for canceling a computer-based testing appointment can be found at Changing/Canceling Your Registration.
To cancel a testing registration within the next 24 hours or for assistance using the online system to cancel a testing registration more than 24 hours away, contact Customer Service at (866) 613-3281 (toll free) or (413) 256-2893.
For exams canceled less than 24 hours in advance, examinees must provide the following:
- A letter stating your name, test date, test site, and the test(s) for which you registered, and
- A signed letter attesting to the illness and recommended quarantine from a medical doctor, physician's assistant, or nurse practitioner on official letterhead stationery. Letters written on prescription forms are not acceptable; however, "return to work" authorization letters are acceptable as long as they include an "out of work" date range inclusive of the testing date.
Documentation should be sent to the following address:
FTCE/FELE Customer Service
Evaluation Systems
Pearson
P.O. Box 660
Amherst, MA 01004-9018
Documentation can also be faxed to (413) 256-7080.
To be transferred to another testing date with no additional fees, documentation must be received by FTCE/FELE Customer Service within 30 calendar days (including weekends and holidays) after the scheduled testing date.
For examinees who have missed a testing appointment due to illness:
If you did not cancel your testing appointment prior to 24 hours and have missed a testing appointment due to illness, no refunds will be given. However, you may request a transfer to another testing date and time as outlined in "Rescheduling/Canceling, Refund, and Absentee/No Show Policies."
